Greenhouse sessions are perfect for those rainy days when we can’t get to a favorite outdoor spot.
But greenhouse sessions still allows for exploring, learning, and snuggling, just without messing up your hair. This type of location is a fun outing for the whole family that allows for stopping and smelling the flowers.
For this family session, impending bad weather allowed us to check out this fun greenhouse, even though the rain never came. I felt so honored to photograph this family. They hadn’t had family photos done since their oldest was a baby and they had added two little girls to the family since then. This mama is a Tinkergarten teacher, so this family was great at slowing down and exploring all the fun nooks and crannies the greenhouse had to offer. You can tell how Mom and Dad really savor this time in their girl’s lives and this part of their parenting journey.
Your photography session is a great time to slow down and really savor your time with your family. In Gretchen Rubin’s book The Happiness Project, she says of being a mother and dealing with family life “The days are long, but the years are short.”
For me as a mother, sometimes the days are oh so long and oh so hard. But yes the years just fly by. Though sometimes I am able to catch a moment with my daughter and it all slows down, and it is oh so sweet. Times like when I show her the giant moon in the sky or when we snuggle in bed or when we float in the pool together.
In these slow moments we, as parents, get to watch our children grow and learn and become the person they were meant to be, these moments are the sweet spot of parenthood.
For my family portraits, I like to take your family on an adventure; a beautiful, magical adventure.
With preplanning, I will learn about your family and where your family’s sweet spot is. We will talk about what your family likes to do together and the different personalities of everyone getting their picture taken.
I will also help you find the perfect outfits so you feel great and your final product will be amazing.
All this preplanning allows me to create a space for your family to explore and enjoy each other and create some family magic together, for the hour or so we have together. It’s a time to slow down. It’s a time to cuddle your babies, to hold hands, to look at the little treasures someone has found. No need to tell anyone to smile or look at the camera. This is time to spend with your family.
During this time, I will place you in a gorgeous environment and give gentle suggestions to get the images that will show of your family just as they are at this stage in your life.
